'Root' simply mean

    * You can install a full Linux distribution, like Debian.
    * You can run applications that require root, like Screenshot and Auto Rotate your Browser and or any other application.
    * You can install the latest Android build directly from the Android source tree.
    * Customize your boot image.
    * Create full backups of the state of your phone.
    * Create custom ROMs.
    * Install Applications to your SD Card to save space.
    * Use your phone as a tether to connect your computer/laptop to the internet.
    * Turn your phone into a wireless router that provides internet access.

i want to do this what do i have to do to my phone

To the guys who came over from the behold forum, I too am a previous behold user, got rid of that thing recently... it got way old quick. Loving the mytouch 3G... I read a lot of this rooting stuff, but don't really understand any of it. I know what it's capable of doing, but don't know how to install cyanogen or any of the other things... so I haven't tried anything with my phone. But I love android as it is....

Please help, if anyone else had this issue. My T-Mobile MyTouch with Android 1.6 OS paired fine as a phone and mp3 player. The mp3 player is less than perfect however.

1) When playing a track, the sound will stop for 1/2 a second at seemingly random intervals. It seems that it's more like the stream is being paused than the audio is just dropping out. I turned off all the auto-update features in the phone in case it was because the phone was checking for e-mail or something. It still happens.

2) When I take a call, the music stops, the call happens, and when I hang up the music plays out of the phone. I can re-connect the Bluetooth audio manually on the Nav screen Audio option and it's back to the car again.

Thoughts anyone?
