Yeah man ull get it, ull like ur phone even more when u get the right rom on it.
I tried a bunch of different hero roms none ran smoothly or as fast as cyan

no i havent had any issue like that and it doesnt matter if you have apps loaded or not all that stuff gets wiped. Man wish I could see what was going on with ur phone and help figure it out!
I just read thru the instructions again and it may seem small but did u turn off the auto completion? thats what usually causes the backup issues ur having. it corrects words and adds in space where u dont want them. lemme know if that helps.

i think it is on... the step b4 u type in the recovery blah blah, is whats failing.. u kno once u open the flashrec program. the lil screen comes up and it says back up image or what not.. i click that and it says.. "working do not interrupt" then once thats done it SHOULD say "backed up" well mine keeps sayin back up FAILD.. i even tried to skip that part and go str8 to the loadin the image that was dled and it still says back up failed.. so im thinkin its my phone  .. i even tried to use a diff sd card n still nothin.... so im thinkin maybe they put a lock on the new models.. i dunno, i dunno much bout this hackin phones or whateva so im jus throwin it out there lol

yeah if it's that early in the process and u know that u havent turned off the auto complete, turn it off & try again. menu/settings/locale & text/touch input settings/text input, uncheck spell correction. letme know how it turns out.

I will try that to but its the step right b4 that.. the part I'm tlkin bout u dun have to do anything but press back up.. watch the video n ull know wat step I'm tlkn bout exactly

aight heres a more detailed description on where im havin troubles.. i left this comment on the unlockr.com
ok guys, i need a lil help. somebody, anybody. this step here…
10. Open the FlashRec program and click on Backup Recovery Image and wait for it to finish.
i’ve done this. And i click on backup. it reads. “working, do not interrupt." Then it should say "Backed up" or whateva.. well mine says “back up FAILED” everytime i do it.. something is wrong here i dunno if the newer mytouch’s have sum type of block on them or what but i can’t get past step 10. i’ve even tried to jus skip that and goto step 11, but it still says “back up failed” i’ve also tried a diff mem card and i’ve gotten the same problem.. =[

Some apps have issues but that not due to rooting it's dependent upon the rom install/flash. I have touchdown as well it's worked with every rom ive tried so far.

Yes. You can download all the apps you've purchased from the market after you root.

Did you flash any rom? did you use one click root?? your phone is fine..
