I take no credit on this but here is the link to the how to on XDA Forums

After a lot of trial and error we finally did it! Many thanks to Jrbourque for being a tester with balls (he could have bricked his phone)  and Haykuro for all the tips and tricks . Please give them credit where credit is due

Proceed on your own risk, you might brick your phone!!!

CREATE and PREPARE your GOLDCARD
Please start a new thread in the general section if you have issues creating a goldcard, this how-to assumes that you have a working Goldcard.
- Create a Goldcard according to this tutorial (Sandisk SD-cards might not work, I used a Kingston 2GB SD and it worked fine).
- Copy sappimg.zip to your goldcard.

PREPARE your spare SD
- Format a spare SD FAT32 (not your Goldcard! )
- Download the 1.33.2005 hboot, rename it to update.zip and copy it to the root of your spare SD.

FLASH your T-Mobile myTouch 3G
Make sure are using fastboot from the latest SDK (release 3) !
- Power-off your device
- Insert the goldcard
- Power on while holding volume down (of fastboot your device and then press volume down)
- It should pick up the sappimg.zip and you should be able to flash it.
- Once the flashing is FULLY finished power off your device.
- Remove the goldcard and insert the SD (with update.zip)
- Power on while holding back (=fastboot) and connect the USB cable
- Download my RAv1.2.0H recovery and fastboot it :
Code:

fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.0H.img

- Once the recovery is booted wait a while
- Apply the update.zip (you are now flashing the 1.33.2005 SPL)
- Once the SPL is flashed you have to power off your device and boot it again in fastboot mode.
- The SPL should now read 1.33.2005.
- Power off your device and pull out the SD-card
- erase the update.zip on your SD-card (via cardreader)
- Download my RAv1.1.0H 32A based ROM and rename it to update.zip and copy it to the root of your SD-card (via cardreader)
- Insert the SD into your device.
- Power on while holding back (=fastboot) and connect the USB cable
Code:

fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.0H.img

- Apply the update.zip located on your SD-card

For Daredevils : Perform the following steps only if you want to revert to a 32B based radio and ROM.
Revert to 32B Radio and ROM :
- Download your favorite 32B ROM and copy it to your sdcard
- Download the Ion radio image from the HTC site.
- Extract radio.img from ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip using your favorite rar/zip program.
- Download my 32B RAv1.2.0G recovery.
- Fastboot your mobile and connect it via USB :
Code:

fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RAv1.2.0G.img

- press MENU to power off! (do not reboot)
- hold HOME and POWER to boot into recovery mode
- apply update

Original T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Splash Image (Thanks Haykuro)
Download it here
Code:

fastboot flash splash1 splash.nb

can you give some details on what you did after you rooted it. what new functionalities did you bring out.  I just really wondering if it's worth rooting. If  you can get the sense ui with multitouch and flash to work seemlessly by rooting, that would be worth it to me.

Honestly I am not sure about the multitouch being that this phone was barely able to get rooted. I am a simple person so I am happy with cyanogens roms info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=539744 you need to go over to XDA and do some more research I just barely got my phone rooted yesterday after spending all day trying to do it. But if you do it and need some extra assistance I would be glad to help hit me up on gtalk clow299@gmail.com

http://www.ryebrye.com/blog/2009/08/16/android-rooting-in-1-click-in-progress/

One Click Root (to be precise it is semi-root) I still have pvt32B and HBOOT 1.33.0006 (unhackable without Goldcard method). I will wait, maybe there will be option without Goldcard.
Right now I am staying with Cyanogen Mod.

I'm new to the mytouch, having owning it for a little under 48 hours ago. What are the advantages to rooting the mytouch?

-runs faster (depends on the rom tho)
-multitouch
-looks cooler
-better keyboard
-all screens go landscape
-way more custom themes

Overall it's just something fun to do and really be different! don't do this one tho, go to http://theunlockr.com/. watch the video and follow the instructions. hit me up if you have any questions.

Dont give up, you'll missout big time if u do! So let backup a min here and figure it out. Did you follow the written instructions or just went by the video? the video is out dated go by the written ones. Also try xda-developers forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556200. I haven't tried this one but give it try.

Once u get it rooted the roms are easy to load. the roms are easy to load

1) find the rom u want it's a .zip file
2) save to pc
3) mount phone to pc & transfer zip file to the sdcard
4) rename file update.zip in the sd card
5) turn off phone & power up by holding end & home at the same time
6) to back up ur current settings select nandroid backup & hit talk button to accept
7) select update.zip & hit talk to accept
Cool let it run & reboot!

*some roms take longer to than others due to file size anywhere from 5 to 10mins is normal. Be patient!
**If the rom doesn't work just turn phone off bring up boot mode (hold home & end) and select nandroid restore, it'll restore all ur previous settings.
***Any rom that u dl make sure it's compatible to the mt3g (32B).
***

did you reformat ur card? is ur card atleast a class 4?

Here's Cyanogens latest rom 4.1.10.1 it's worked great for me. remember to wipe data before loading another rom. here's the link sort by last modified and grab this file name update-cm-4.1.10.1-signed.zip.md5sum. I havnt tried newer roms so it's up to u.

-As always do all this a ur own risk, it could brick ur phone.

You can use any class Sd card you want, but most prefer class 6. The class number is on the memory card..you cant miss it. The video is easy to follow..just take time or you might damage your phone..

I like Cyanogen rom but after switched over to Hero rom..I can't turn around LOL  Grin
